Google Glass the wearable computer device, soon, that would allow users to withdraw cash from Automated Teller Machines (ATM) without worrying about theft.
Assistant professor of Cryptography Algorithms at Sarland University in Germany, Dominique Schroder and his group developing a software named ‘Ubic’, that combine Google Glass with cryptographic methods and techniques from automated image analysis.
Dominique Schroder said that Ubic enables a customer to identify himself to the cash machine and it requests the public key of the customer and the key is used to encrypt the one-way personal identification number (PIN) and seals it additionally with a ‘digital signature’, result as a QR code.
The PIN that is hidden below the OR Code is only visible for customer, who is the identified wearer of the Google Glass and nobody is able to spy on the PIN even-though the process occurs in public, as it is re-generated every time the customer uses the cash machine.
The digital signature guarantees that no assailant is able to intrude between the customer and the cash machine as during ‘skimming’ where the assailant can impersonate the customer.
“As long as this is safely stored on the Google Glass, his money is also safe,” said Schroder, who also does research at the Center for IT-Security, Privacy and Accountability in Germany.
Google Glass, which is expected to hit stores this year!
